Bayer has opened a 70,000-square-foot expansion at its Myerstown, Pennsylvania, manufacturing facility, marking the completion of a $44 million investment announced in 2022.

The Myerstown site, which has been in operation for more than 75 years, is now the largest manufacturing location in the company’s global consumer health network. The facility produces well-known over-the-counter brands including Bayer Aspirin, Aleve, Claritin, One A Day, and Midol.

The newly constructed annex adds eight high-speed packaging lines and introduces automation to both logistics and production areas. Bayer says the upgrades are designed to improve operational efficiency and responsiveness to market demand.

“The Myerstown annex will enable us to bring science-backed products to market with more speed and reliability than ever before,” said Dave Tomasi, president of Bayer’s Consumer Health division in North America.

In addition to facility upgrades, Bayer is expanding its workforce development programs. The company plans to enhance digital training for employees and engage with local educators to support career readiness in manufacturing.

“We recognize that the key to sustainable growth lies in our people,” said Divakar Amin, vice president and site manager at Myerstown. “We are proud to contribute to the local economy and foster a vibrant workforce made up of many Myerstown locals.”

The company emphasized that the investment supports not only infrastructure and production goals but also its broader commitment to community and workforce engagement.

Bayer, headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany, reported sales of €46.6 billion in fiscal 2024 and employs approximately 93,000 people globally. Its consumer health division focuses on nonprescription health products in areas such as pain relief, allergy, and digestive health.
