Heyou Hospital in Foshan City, China, has selected RaySearch Laboratories' RayStation treatment planning system to support its carbon ion and proton therapy program. The total order, including a service contract, is valued at RMB 51 million (approximately SEK 77 million), with RMB 18 million (approximately SEK 26 million) to be recognized in the first quarter of 2025.

This deal marks RaySearch’s third-largest order to date and its largest since December 2022. Heyou Hospital becomes the company's first customer to integrate RayStation with a combined Hitachi carbon ion and proton therapy system. The hospital, which also provides conventional photon-based radiation therapy, will use RayStation for planning across multiple treatment modalities.

Ion beam therapy, which includes proton and carbon ion treatments, allows for more precise targeting of tumors compared to conventional photon-based radiotherapy. By controlling energy deposition more accurately, the approach reduces radiation exposure to healthy tissues, potentially lowering treatment-related side effects.

China's market for particle therapy—including protons, carbon ions, and boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT)—is expanding rapidly, with RaySearch maintaining a leading position in treatment planning solutions for these modalities.

The acquisition will provide Heyou Hospital with access to RayStation’s advanced features, including pencil beam scanning, robust optimization, linear energy transfer optimization, proton arc optimization, GPU-accelerated dose calculations, and adaptive replanning capabilities.

"I am pleased to announce our collaboration with Heyou Hospital and the significant order for RayStation. I look forward to deepening our relationship and to a fruitful cooperation in advanced radiation therapy," said Johan Löf, founder and CEO of RaySearch.
