This Shandon Cryotome 620E is in excellent cosmetic and tested working condition. Comes with the original key. When plugged in we were able to power it on and cool it down to -27C. All the digital controls are working as they should however there are 2 buttons that are not responding,the specimen travel buttons for the "slow extend" & "fast retract". The Fast Extend and Slow retractbuttons are working so the unit is still functional. May be an easy fix for someone with knowledge of these units. Comes with a complete knife holder and blade cover, and specimen cassette holder. The removable waste bottle is good. Guaranteed not to be DOA.

Manufacturer's Description

The Thermo Cryotome is designed for cutting frozen sections of fixed and unfixed specimens, rapidly & accurately for future examination by microscope. It operates by rapidly freezing the sample in a temperature controlled environment, and provides means for sectioning the frozen sample by conventional microtome.

For optimum performance, the microtome Specimen Head & Knife Holder are held within the refrigerated chamber. The main body of the microtome is mounted outside the chamber to give more space for working in, and for easier cleaning.
Microtome located outside of the cryochamber, making it easier and quicker to clean
Blade holder moves laterally, eliminating the need to unclamp and re-clamp blade and maximizing blade usage
Section thickness adjusts from 1 to 19m in 1m increments and 20 to 55m in 5m increments
Control chamber temperature from 0 to -35C
Control cryobar temperature
Cool specimen rapidly to prevent freezing artifacts with cryobar refrigeration system that cools to -55C
Cool from ambient to set temperature in as little as two hours


Condition & Testing

This Thermo Shandon Cryostat is in great cosmetic and tested working condition. We plugged it in and it reached and held atemperature of -27C (see pic) when set on low. there are 2 buttons that are not responding,the specimen travel buttons for the "slow extend" & "fast retract". The Fast Extend and Slow retractbuttons are working so the unit is still functional.May be an easy fix for someone with knowledge of these units. The knife holder looks complete and adjusts properly. The thickness control buttons are working. The specimen holder cassette is in good shape. Overall condition is great with some minor paint scuffs and staining on the base of the unit but no damage at all. The chamber light is working and the glass door is smooth to open. The power cord is good. Guaranteed not to be DOA.
