The SoniXsmooth is an advanced HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment system.
The cartridge of the SoniXsmooth has an acoustic lens built in to it. This will focus Ultrasound energy to a single point about the size of a pinhead. You will be able to select how far away from the lens this focal point is, by changing cartridges, as well as how much actual Ultrasound energy is focused at this point.
When the SoniXsmooth treatment is applied to the face or neck this pinhead sized focal point will be under the surface of the skin, within the skin's tissue. The Ultrasound energy applied to the focal point will cause dramatic and sudden thermal and mechanical change for a very short amount of time to just this small area. The skin tissue above, below or around the focal point won't be affected.
The Sonismooth lens will very quickly deliver a straight row of up to 10 pinhead sized 'shots' of Ultrasound energy to the skin tissue from its handset. Where each shot is focused the skin tissue will rapidly contract over this tiny area. Multiple rows of these shots a few millimetres apart will be delivered to the treatment zones on the face and neck, until the whole zone has been covered by these tiny shots.
The contraction of the skin tissue will be immediate; however the SoniXsmooth treatment will cause the body to start something called 'Neo Collagenesis'. This is the body's reaction to thermal trauma which causes it to generate collagen. So as well as seeing immediate results from a treatment session on the day it is normal for the improvement to continue for some 8 - 12 weeks afterwards. This is the body continuing the process of Neo Collagenesis that will have been triggered by the SoniXsmooth treatment.
