I carefully unpacked and reassembled as best I could for the listing pictures. I did plug the cabinet in and most of the controllers powered on. I believe this is a complete 8 cage system but no other testing has been done. Will more than likely require professional setup before it can be used. A bunch of high-tech parts here if nothing else. I read online the software is open source so it shouldn't be too much trouble setting it up for use?Comes with a large cabinet with glass door containing 7 pre-wired Process Control consoles for ActiMot2, CaloSys Calibration, Drinking/Feeding, (2) RunningWheel, Calosys for Valves and Calosys. There is also a free standing Process Control console for Air Drying. Has a total of 8 complete cages with lids and 8 extra cage bottoms that fit on a large rolling rack. Inside each cage are 2 load cell transducers and food/water dish tubes. Each cage fits inside 2 levels of ActiMot2 frames to detect cage activity. There is a box containg 8 Running wheels wrapped in bubble-wrap. The running wheels appear to be new and unused. Includes 2 CaloSys Air Pumps with tubing and digital Air-Flowmeter. Has the original operating instructions which has what appears to be the original "Calibration Protocol" document dated 2016 inside the front cover. I believe all the connecting cables are present but I didn't try plugging them all in. There is a box with many new spare parts, components, o-rings, tubes, filters and small parts.

TSE Phenomaster / Labmaster Caging Systemis a multi-modular platform that allows researchers the ability to carry out metabolic, behavioral and physiological monitoring of mice in an automated and synchronized manner. Currently our system consists of 8 cages with modules to measure metabolic performance, activity, plus feeding and drinking behavior.

The components measured by the system are:

Calorimetry: Flow (l/min)
Temperature (0C, measurement in the box)
O2concentration (%, reference and per box)
CO2concentration (%, reference and per box)
dO2difference (%, reference O2 Box O2)
dCO2difference (%, reference CO2 Box CO2)
VO2(O2consumption, ml/(kg x h) or ml/h)
VCO2(CO2production, ml/(kg x h) or ml/h)
RER, respiratory exchange rate (VCO2/VO2)
H, heat (kcal/(kg x h) resp., or Kcal/h)
The TSE system is carefully calibrated using certified calibration gases whose O2and CO2concentrations are accurately known.

Activitymeasurements via MoTil2 IR sensor frames and/or a passive wheel. The IR sensors frames are configured to measure locomotor activity in the x, y, and z plane. The software records the number of beam interruptions caused by the animals movement. The total number of beam breaks recorded is a sum of the ambulatory and fine movements. A passive wheel (of which there are 8) allows measurement of spontaneous activity by the animal with the number of turns the wheel makes clockwise or counterclockwise being recorded.

Drinking and feeding behaviorfor each animal in each cage is recorded via the sensors the drinking and feeding stations are attached to. Defined calibration weights are alsoused to calibrate the drinking and feeding system which allows accurate monitoring of how much food an animal eats and how much water it drinks.

Condition & Testing

2016 System professionally deinstalled from a research facility. All components were carefully wrapped in bubble-wrap and packed in boxes. Comes complete with 8 cages, transducers, sensors, running wheels, air pumps, cage rack, original manual, spare parts and cabinet with data acquisition controllers. I did plug the cabinet in and it powers up but no other testing has been done. All included cages look good. I unpacked and assembled for listing pictures. Does not come with any type of computer or software but I read online the software is open source. Will likely require professional assembly and setup. A whole lot of high end parts here if nothing else.The cabinet has a couple dents in the side. The rack is nice.
