Bryan Health, in Nebraska, is placing its medical supply distribution operations in the hands of Medline as part of a $140 million partnership.
Medline will deliver essential medical supplies and solutions to Bryan’s acute care medical centers in Lincoln, Grand Island, Crete, and Central City, along with Kearney Regional Medical Center, which it already services.
It also will strategize practices that Bryan can use to facilitate specific caregiver needs and bolster operational efficiency.
Bryan will be able to use Medline’s advanced analytics platforms to easily monitor key metrics, including item utilization, contract compliance, price accuracy, and spending by product categories.
“Medline’s proactive approach facilitated a smooth implementation, and the customer support has been incredibly responsive,” said Heather Seeba, director of supply chain for Bryan Health, in a statement.
Bryan switched to Medline after 30 years with the same distributor.
Earlier this year, Medline
opened what is estimated to be the largest medical grade distribution center in the U.S. for $125 million in Grayslake, Illinois. The center will ship thousands of individual products and devices to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, hospices, and physician offices.
The company expects it to manage more than $1 billion in annual orders and designed it as part of Medline’s Healthcare Resilience Initiative, a $2 billion national capital expenditure campaign to implement new distribution centers, manufacturing capabilities, and IT upgrades.
It has
invested $2 billion in its U.S. distribution centers, manufacturing capabilities, and IT upgrades since 2018. It recently committed $500 million in September 2022 to the availability and timely delivery of medical supplies to alleviate ongoing supply chain challenges, bringing the total on-hand inventory value to more than $4 billion.
Medline also agreed in October to
supply Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, in California, in a $200 million multiyear partnership. Hoag will also use its platforms to monitor key metrics at its 15 urgent care facilities, 10 health and wellness centers, and two hospitals.
“We are excited to enter into this prime vendor partnership and together develop solutions to help provide consistency and stability to its supply chain,” said Megan Schwellenbach, vice president of corporate accounts at Medline, about the Bryan Health partnership.
Bryan Health and Medline did not respond for comment.
