Manufacturers Description:

The Hematek Slide Stainer is designed to produce stained slides of consistent quality in acontinuous process. This is accomplished by having a fixed length of time in each of thethree phases of stain, buffer, and rinse, as well as a predetermined ratio of stain-to-buffervolumes in the buffer phase.

A properly stained slide is the result of an interactive process involving the pumpvolumes, the mixing process, and the stain-to-buffer ratio. A minimum ratio of 1:2 isrecommended; however, if the platen is filling properly, good mixing is occurring, and thestained slides are acceptable under the microscope, the stain-to-buffer ratio should not beadjusted.

Pumps deliver fresh reagents in precise volume for every stain while the platen provides uniform stain from field-to-field and slide-to-slide with stain and buffer mixing accurately and uniform
Slides are immediately available for viewing upon completion of staining, and the rinse reagent contains the optimal alcohol concentration for proper slide drying
Dials, located on front panel, allow for wide variation in stain intensities to suit individual needs
Simple to maintain
Stains 60 slides per hour

Condition & Testing:

This is a very nice automatic slide stainer in excellent cosmetic and tested working condition with some normal sign of use in the form of a few minor scuffs. All three peristaltic pumps on top are working when the prime button is pushed. The motor runs and the spiral grooves are properly turning and moving the slides down the plateuntil they are deposited in the catch compartment. (see pics) I can visually see the peristaltic pumps running automatically and intermittently as they should. The pump control knobs are working properly. The on/off switches areworking properly and the leveling legs are working. The internal slide drying fan is working. All indicator lights are working. Super nice system and the most complete you will find on the secondary market. Both drawers are present although the waste drawer has a corner chippedon the front corner.There is nothing missing or broken that I can see. Will require a stain packbefore it can used.
